Hello my name is Barry Strathmann and since the age of seven hanging with my older brothers scavenging thru the junk yards looking for parts to build our first hot rod, I knew even then my passion in life would be the automobile. Dad was a metal fabricator and my brothers just loved anything that had to do with cars. Both of my brothers were in to drag racing which probably led me to racing stock cars at the age of seventeen for Kenny Lindell who later formed L&S Racing Enterprise. Well here is the rest of the story. At the age of nineteen I find myself one day sitting behind the wheel of a stock car looking around the inside on the vehicle preparing to start the race. As I look from side to side I see some other young racers looking for a win, people like Dale Earnhardt, Harry Gant, Darrell Waltrip and other racers on a NASCAR short track. What a feeling! I enjoyed racing up to the age of 43 ending my career racing along Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the North Wilkesboro track. At this juncture in life my passion turned from racing to understanding why things work and how to make them work better. And my passion today translates from the perfection I once desired in my youth as a race car driver to today providing our customers with a service center that meets or exceeds all their needs. The year is 1991 we purchase our first Saab, a white 900S and we are introduced to Barry through a referral. Lets skip ahead it’s 2006, 15 years and 225,000 miles later, after teaching both our sons how to drive (with a clutch non the less) the old warhorse is still driven daily. It is as safe and dependable as the day we brought it home, and that’s a testament to Barry’s knowledge and expertise. Barry and the rest of the BPI team ensure that things are done right, and done right the first time. Family Values……… For over 16 years Barry has been servicing our cars. Barry and his staff have worked with us to teach our two Saab driving sons many life lessons. From the invaluable day to day driving, upkeep and service tips to major service or collision issues Barry has taken the time to thoroughly explain all aspects of using and servicing vehicles to our boys and has been gracious enough to allow them extra time and latitude in satisfying their obligations when need be. Over the past 15 years of servicing vehicles at BPI, I have had to call and disturb Barry and his family after hours a few times. Whether it be to diagnose a current problem while on vacation, or to help one of our sons or my wife with an emergency repair. Barry has been gracious with both his time and expertise, and has on more than one occasion come back to the shop himself to repair an item to keep us safely on the road. Barry treats us like family, and for me, who travels quite a lot, having someone in town like him to offer assistance has been a life saver |
